1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder (Optional)
1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chopped nuts
1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
100g (about 3.5 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for shine and richness)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and line an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
Make the brownies: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
Remove from heat and whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips or nuts, if using.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Let cool completely before glazing.
Prepare the glaze: Heat the cream in a small saucepan until just about to boil.
Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate.
Let sit for 1–2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
Stir in the butter and vanilla extract.
Let the glaze cool for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
Glaze the brownies: Pour the chocolate glaze over the cooled brownies.
Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
Chill for 15–20 minutes to set the glaze before slicing.
Serving Tips: For clean slices, use a hot knife (dip in hot water and wipe dry).
Delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh berries
