About This Recipe

Chocolate Biscuit Salami is a no-bake Romanian dessert made with crushed biscuits, cocoa, and butter, shaped into a salami-style log. Easy to make and perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 400g plain tea biscuits (like Marie biscuits)

  • 150g sugar

  • 100g butter (unsalted)

  • 100ml milk

  • 50g cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 100g Turkish delight or chopped nuts (optional)

  • A pinch of salt

  • Powdered sugar or coconut flakes (for coating – optional)

Instructions

  1. Break the biscuits into small pieces by hand or in a sealed bag with a rolling pin. Don’t crush them into powder – small chunks are best for texture.

  2. In a saucepan, add the sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and butter. Place over medium heat and stir until everything is melted and smooth. Do not boil.

  3. Remove from heat, then add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

  4. Combine the liquid with the crushed biscuits in a large bowl. Add chopped Turkish delight or nuts if using. Mix well until the biscuits are evenly coated.

  5. Shape the salami: Place the mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Form it into a log shape and roll it tightly. Twist the ends to seal.

  6. Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours (or overnight) until firm.

  7. Optional: Roll the salami in powdered sugar or coconut flakes before serving for a traditional look.

  8. Slice and serve cold.
